Ash’s real experience and feelings on starting the journey.
“While Milo was blissfully unaware about starting training with Jacyntha, I on the other hand was quite anxious in the lead up to our first session.
I wrestled with cancelling that first session many times but I’m so thankful I didn’t! Milo can be a reactive little pup, something that I’d tried to manage on my own for some time.
For me the most challenging part of that first session was being able to let go of that control and be willing to let Jacyntha help us.
Allowing her to see Milo (and I) in a vulnerable and stressful situation was absolutely needed so she could support and guide us through making changes.
My little hints for your first session with Jacyntha...
Jacyntha isn’t there to judge you, she is there to support and guide you. Remember this 😊
You’re likely putting more pressure on yourself and your dog than anyone else is. Lower your expectations of both. Being able to let go of this will reduce some of your anxiety. Yes, you understand your dog and know your dog well but you have reached out for help from a professional. Let them do their job 😊
Be honest about what specifically you and your pup struggle with. Be clear with your goals.
If you’re unsure of something or something isn’t sitting well, say something.
Be kind to yourself and your pup. It’s a journey for both of you.
Treats, LOTS of treats!!
Jacyntha genuinely cares about you and your pup. This was clear from the moment Milo and I met her.
Her friendly and reassuring nature put me at ease immediately, and being able to let go of that anxiety and move forward has been such a blessing. Thank you Jacyntha 😊”
