Dear owner, I was once you
Many clients genuinely think I was automatically good at my craft and that is not true in the slightest. I get comments from time to time such as:
“Oh this would be much easier for you than for me.”
“ You have been always able to do this, surely?”
Truthfully?
I don’t think I would’ve ever been a dog trainer if it wasn’t for the fact that I had two fluff balls who were absolutely difficult to live with.
Tiny and Fido were 9 and 11 years of age respectively when they first began training, and it did not come without tears, frustration and multiple setbacks.
Looking back, I can’t believe how far they have come from those dogs, and they are not perfect but we have an actual relationship built on respect and clarity now. There are still times I want to cry because it feels like set backs have occurred, but all I do is let myself feel and then move on to focus on helping them.
So how did the dog training come to me?
In me wanting things to be different for me and my dogs, I “accidentally” realised I have a knack for it and became the trainer I am from this.
That’s why I can understand you as a dog owner and where you come from. When you come to me desperate to help you dog, I get it completely because I was once you.
Heck, I started my business because I saw how many owners felt the need to be heard just like I did, and I know more owners needed to understand their dogs and feel confident that they can have a relationship with them.
I want owners to know they can do it, and since I’ve been blessed with the ability to get them there I will do exactly that.
